Beaches

Patara beach, voted  by The Sunday Times as one of the most beautiful and unspoilt beaches in the Mediterranean, has 18 km of white sand and is approx a 15 mins drive. Kalkan’s beach, a ‘ blue flag ’ beach and the harbour are approx a 5 min car ride or 20-25 minute walk (as Kalkan is on a hillside it is a steep walk!).

Kapatus is a sandy beach with fabulous turquoise sea. It is approx 10 mins drive from Villa Vanilla. Alternatively you can take a water taxi from Kalkan harbour.

 

  
   
 

Beach Clubs/Water Sports

Kalkan is well known  for its beach clubs, such as Kalamar Bay and Villa Mahal beach clubs.  They offer a range of water sports including water skiing, diving (including PADI courses), ringos, banana rides etc.

Other Outdoor Activities

A range of outdoor activities are available from Kalkan including diving, snorkelling, canoeing, water skiing, sailing, para gliding, canyoning, windsurfing, horse riding and jeep safaris. Regular boat trips from Kalkan harbour explore the area and beautiful coastline including the well known gulet cruises.

Kalkan is on the route of the Lycian Way, which offers walkers stunning scenery and many archaeological sites on its route.

 

  
 
 

Historical and Archaeological sites

Around Kalkan there are many unspoilt historical and archaeological sites,  For example Xanthos, Sydima, Pinara, Myra, the sunken city of Kekova, Salikent gorge and Patara.  Many tour companies offer trips to these sites from Kalkan.
